In a bit of an effort to understand students better I have been thinking long and hard about a survey that may help give some insight into what they are after in the learning experience. As my catch cry this year has been “integrating the learning into the curriculum” I have been interested to see how much more I can do to see them not only receive beneficial learning experiences but to become efficient and effective life long learners.
I want to source my reader’s opinions and ideas….. What are some of the things I need to be asking these students? What type of insight should I be looking for? Oh I can feel a research project coming on!!!! ![]()
I sometimes wonder if our school system is creating a world of conformists that are beginning to give up on the fight of what they want to learn and how they want to learn. Our school system seems to forcibly mould students the way some bureaucratic “suits” seem to think they should be moulded — Just my humble feelings….
What our learners want and need may just come from the direct source – The learner!!
Hey Brett – I’m Cherrie, a student at Auckland University… love to help you out here.
(omitted… see email)
In other words, I’ve thought about this a lot and I would love to contribute!
Well my exams end in a week so I’d be able to contribute more then, but until then I’d better get back to studying. For now, you might want to read my blog, which has links to the blogs of the other students who went to the US as well and they have interesting things to say about Education, too. =)
“What our learners want and need may just come from the direct source – The learner!!” – shocking! would doctors or businessmen say to that?! =P
Also, just a quick note – I agree with your humble feelings – will discuss later, must study for exams now (ironic)…bye!
