Brett,

Your tying podcasting in with higher order thinking skills is brilliant and it is astonishing how good the fit is. One thing, however, that will get their attention is if there is some way that you can demonstrate the process of podcasting. It is such a dramatic and impressive use of technology that I suspect most people believe that it takes a lot of training and investment in technology to accomplish podcasting.

I always try to demonstrate how, if they already have a laptop with a built in mic, they could be podcasting in two hours — for free! It’s part of its value, that podcasting is so accessible.

Great luck to you. Wish I was going to be there. I will be speaking at a conference in New Zealand in February!

Thanks for this, Brett – especially the diagrams which should get people thinking!

I produced a 5-part guide to podcasting a few months back which you’re free to use and remix under the Creative Commons license… :-)

hi brett,

I like it that you are presenting before the actual conference, merging real time into virtual time and giving both those who will be present and those not, a pre-taste

I’ve setup a wiki to do something similar:

I didn’t know about hitchhikr, I had a quick look. Not sure about what I will need to do with my blogger tags before a post with acec06 will show up at http://hitchhikr.com/index.php?conf_id=38&tag_focus=acec06 but I’m looking into it. I just added an acec06 tag to one of my posts but doubt that this all that is required (?!)

Very interesting, thanks

hi brett,

I figured out from hitchhikr FAQ that I just need to register my blog at technorati. I think I’ve just done that so hopefully some of my blog post will start to show up

Thnx for initiating this and to David Warlick too for the service

Hi Brett, I’ve been following your blog, travels and progress with great interest since we did the live blogging at Sydney for the education.au seminar ‘So what’s Changed?’. Well done. Your approach to sharing your skills with podcasting is wonderful.
I’m certainly very interested in hooking up with other bloggers at the ACEC conference and even more so at the Global Summit in Sydney, ‘Technology Connected Futures’ 17-19 October
http://www.educationau.edu.au/jahia/Jahia/pid/305 Will you be there?
ACEC – I can’t get my posts onto hitchhikr. Here are my attempts.

See you there, Al
