Opening session has started with a live weblink to an aquarium. There is a diver giving us a tour under the water in one of their tanks. What a great engaging activity to get us started.
An interesting role play/debate/discussion on ICT’s as just tools to help learning or something more. I guess it is more when we start thinking about the flat world concept. It is the kids who bring the ICT and the educators bring the pedagogy. I like this because it is accessing the talents and skills for each person involved in the learning process. Kids are good with the tech stuff – they live it and love it…. A good educator should have a passion for good pedagogy.
Also some interesting case studies of indigenous students using some great ICT. It seems that the theme of the conference is going to be all about developing the pedagogies. This is great, as I have made this the focus of my presentation on web2.0 tools. Well at least I hope I have achieved this purpose.
