Well this has to sum up a few problems with some teachers today. How dare a student tell a teacher that they could be incorrect. What right does a student have to ever question anything!!! 
Much could be said about this one.

Meta
How sad is the response from this teacher. There is certainly a place for respect of authority/elders, but we elders most be able to discern the intentions of our young people. Can we always expect an emotionless response? Could this remark from the teacher have followed previous errors (about which she does not report), causing the young student to lose control? Surely we who have lived three of four times as long as our students need to know how better to react. How can she now expect this young man to be interested in learning from her? How will she again win his trust?
