Hi Brett.

Finally found your site again and started reading. What a great post you have here. I enjoy the way that you just write your true feelings and thoughts. There is a passion that is detected in this form of writing that I believe would be hard to find in formal writings.

For the record, you are right. What I do at my school each year is a risk and as we head into the third year that I have done this exercise we have seen a great culture shift in the school. I still deliver on 99% of staff requests and the 1% are made better (not solved) with some creative thinking that normally involves a long term plan that needs to be put in place.

Brett please let me encourage you to continue this weblog, it is exciting for an old man like me to see how the future of education is in the hands of young passionate educators like yourself. You are a good thinker and express some ideas here that I think some experienced school leaders could learn from. If you ever end up in Melbourne there would be a job here for you – But then again you are leadership material. Don’t leave the move into leadership too late. Our schools need young risk takers who will turn the “system” on its head. Keep up the great work and I will make sure I tune back in from time to time. I am still quite busy keeping those bureaucrats happy :)
