My biggest argument with these things is the justification of cost to quality of learning experience they can facilitate. I have seen some good lessons with IWB's but nothing that justifies the expense. Where is the credible research? My head of Maths uses them well and I am impressed with what he does with them, but I still don't see the real value of these things throughout a school.

Yeah agree with you Graham… My biggest argument with these things is the justification of cost to quality of learning experience they can facilitate. From my personal experience and point of view, the best place for an IWB is in the classroom peferably the home base for a class or the home base for a teacher who can make the tool their own. Schools who stick IWBs in pointless places as shown will be the first to write off their potential - some will also omit a internet powered data point nearby. As we have both pontificated before, any classroom digital tool is only as useful as the teacher utilising it in their learning program.

Even better are the schools who put one in the staffroom and hope the staff will get enthused by “having a play”.
