The article brings up a good point when it mentions that teachers are hindered by such strict lesson plans.  If you want the teacher to be successful then you need to let them feel like succeeding is based on what they can do and not what you force them to do.  Some people do better thinking outside the box. Holding the students accountable is also a great idea because it will force them to take more control of not only their school work but life in itself.  One thing that we all need to focus on in America is being responsible for what we do and not want everything handed to us.  If the students are held accountable then they are more likely to put forth more effort and try harder.
